Whoopi Goldberg, Megan Rapinoe, and Taylor Swift Announce Shocking Plans to Leave the U.S. Check the first comment ๐›๐ž๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ

Media magnateย Oprah Winfrey. Talk show hostย Jimmy Kimmel. Singer-songwritersย Billie Eilishย andย Taylor Swift.

Theyโ€™re among the celebrities whoย  misleading social media posts claimedย  left or said theyโ€™d leave the United States following President Donald Trumpโ€™s 2024 election.

But those claims are false, and so is a new one in the same vein.

โ€œBREAKING NEWS,โ€ a Jan. 21 Facebookย postย said. โ€œWhoopi Goldberg, Megan Rapinoe and Taylor Swift decide to leave the United States.โ€

This post was flagged as part of Metaโ€™s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about ourย partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and Threads.)

The post included aย linkย to a site titled โ€œTruth here!โ€ with a Jan. 21 post bearing a headline with the same claim as the Facebook post.

The blog post didnโ€™t mention Trump, but claimed โ€œtheir decisions to leave America come amidst a backdrop of mounting social, political and economic tensions.โ€

We previouslyย fact-checked and found Falseย a claim that Swift said she was leaving the country if Trump became president, and that sheย moved to Canada after his victory.

We looked anew for credible evidence, such as public statements or news reports, that sheโ€™s leaving the country and found none.

We also found no such evidence to corroborate the claims about Goldberg or Rapinoe.

On Nov. 10, a Facebook account that posts fabricated storiesย wroteย that Rapinoe was leaving the United States โ€œafter massive red waveโ€ because she said she couldnโ€™t โ€œlive here anymore,โ€ but the post was clearly labeled โ€œsatire.โ€

A similar claim, that Rapinoe and Goldberg were going to leave America because they โ€œget no respect here,โ€ alsoย originatedย on a self-described satire site.

We rate claims Goldberg, Rapinoe and Swift said theyโ€™re leaving the United States False.
